Pune police have booked a 26-year-old student pursuing a PhD degree after being accused of committing an act that violated the modesty of a female advocate during a road rage incident near Spicer College in Aundh. The incident took place on Friday night and was reported to the police on Sunday.

According to the filed complaint, the woman, accompanied by her husband, was driving through the area in order to pick up a food delivery from a nearby restaurant. The alleged offender, identified as Sujit Kate, was purportedly driving recklessly near Spicer College, prompting the complainant to request that he drive more cautiously to prevent any potential accidents.

The complainant asserts that Kate subsequently stopped his vehicle, exited his car, and proceeded to verbally abuse her. Despite her and her husband’s pleas for him to communicate respectfully, the accused persisted in his offensive behavior. Matters escalated when the woman’s husband intervened, resulting in a physical altercation in which he sustained severe injuries at the hands of the accused.

In her official complaint, the victim alleges that Kate further damaged her car’s windshield and issued threats to harm them. Consequently, she visited the Chatuhshringi police station on Saturday to file a report against the accused.

Eyewitnesses at the scene claim that Kate also attempted to exploit the influence of his mother, who is purportedly affiliated with the local National Congress Party (NCP).
