Pimpri Chinchwad Police Busts IPL Betting Racket at Lodha Belmondo

Pune: Four individuals have been apprehended by the Pimpri Chinchwad police for their alleged involvement in betting on the ongoing IPL matches. The arrests took place at the Lodha Belmondo Society, specifically in building number 28, on Friday evening.

The accused individuals, identified as Durgesh Bajranglal Parikh, Shivdan Shakti Singh, Savaria Giridharilal Prajapati, and Omprakash Dhanaram Chaudhary, are originally from Rajasthan.

According to the police, the accused obtained SIM cards using forged documents and used them to create an account on the Diamond Exchange Admin betting website and they participated in illegal betting activities.

The breakthrough in the investigation came when, an officer from the anti-robbery team, received crucial information about betting on IPL matches occurring in building number 28 of the Lodha Belmondo Society. Acting promptly, the police conducted a raid on the same Friday evening.

All four accused individuals have been taken into custody and are facing multiple charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) related to cheating, forgery, and the use of forged documents. They also face charges under the Maharashtra Gambling Act and the Indian Telegraph Act. The Shirgaon police are actively investigating the case further.
