Pune : 8-Year-Old Girl Electrocuted by Open DP in Pimple Saudagar, Mahavitran Officials Faces Action

In a distressing turn of events, an eight-year-old girl was severely burned after being exposed to an open electric Distribution Point (DP) in Pune. The incident occurred on April 16 at 4:30 pm in Pimple Saudagar.

The concerned officers and employees of Mahavitaran, the state power distribution company, have been booked by the Sangvi police for alleged negligence leading to this tragic accident.

A complaint was filed by Anand Vijaykumar Umerjikar, a resident of Pimple Saudagar, at the Sangvi police station on May 27. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered against the Mahavitaran officials involved.

According to the police investigation, the victim was playing with her friend near a public toilet in Jagtap Colony when she inadvertently came into contact with the open electric DP located in the compound. This contact resulted in a severe electrocution, causing burn injuries on her hand, shoulder, chest, and stomach.

The accident occurred due to the failure of the concerned Mahavitran officials to properly secure and close the electric DP. Consequently, a case has been registered against them under section 338 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The Sangvi police are investigating the matter to ascertain further details.
