The Regional Transport Office (RTO) Pune is planning to start an integrated email ID & a WhatsApp number (only messages enabled, no calls) for Punekars to register complaints against overcharging of bus tickets/fares from private bus operators.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Sanjeev Bhor, Deputy Commissioner, Pune RTO, said “The planning for the WhatsApp message only number & email ID is going on as beginning a call enabled number will create a lot of confusion & chaos regarding complaint redressal. 4 squads will be created only for this for which 4 officials will be the in-charge.”

As per further information shared by Bhor, on Monday (30th October), a meeting of all Bus Owner Associations will be held where they will be requested to instruct all bus operators to only charge the fares/tickets amount authorized by the state government & not overcharge passengers. Also, boards will be established at the boarding/dropping points & offices of all private buses which will have information about the fares of all the destinations of all the buses starting & stopping from a boarding/dropping point & the email ID/contact number will also be there on it in case of overcharging done by the operator.

A meeting of senior officials of Pune RTO was conducted on 26th October where planning & beginning of the email ID & WhatsApp numbers was decided. The email ID is planned to be functional from Monday (30th October) & the beginning of WhatsApp Message Only number is yet to be finalized.
