Mumbai: The global Corona crisis is not yet averted. The prevalence of new Corona variants has increased. Earlier, the JN.1 variant raised global concerns; now, the KP.2 variant has started spreading across the world and the country. According to the latest information, this variant has also emerged in the state. A total of 91 patients have been detected in the state.

According to the information received, the number of patients with this new variant is increasing across the country. The number of patients is also rising in the state. 51 patients of the KP.2 Corona variant have been detected in Pune, while 20 patients have been detected in Thane. The first patient with this new variant in the world was found in America in January.

According to the information provided by Dr. Rajesh Karyakarte, cases of the new variant of Corona were observed in the state in April and March. However, hospitalization and death rates are very low. Apart from Pune and Thane, seven patients have been found in Amravati and Aurangabad. Additionally, two patients have been found in Solapur, and one each in Ahmednagar, Nashik, Latur, and Sangli. Not a single patient has been reported in Navi Mumbai.
