The Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) is set to launch a fresh series for two-wheeler vehicle registration soon, along with an option for reserving premium registration numbers for private four-wheelers. By paying triple the usual fee, vehicle owners can secure eye-catching registration numbers. The RTO has also started accepting advance applications and organizing auctions for the remaining two-wheeler numbers.

To secure a preferred registration number for your four-wheeler from the new two-wheeler series, submit your applications in the specified format with the triple fee on July 16 between 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM. If multiple applications are received for the same number, a list will be posted on the office’s notice board. Demand drafts for the auction will be accepted until 2:30 PM on July 18, and the auction will take place on the same day at 4:00 PM in the Cooperative Hall.

To apply, visit the Private Vehicle Registration Department at the Pune RTO office. Bring the demand draft, proof of address, Aadhaar card, ID proof, and a self-attested copy of the PAN card. Ensure the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar card is included. The demand draft should be made out to ‘R.T.O., Pune’ and drawn from a nationalized or scheduled bank in Pune.

If the vehicle registration is not finalized within 30 days of booking the number, the preferred number’s validity will lapse. An update via the NIC website now makes expired preferred numbers viewable to the public on the preferred number website. These numbers are available to anyone who applies to the Assistant Treasurer on a ‘first-come, first-served’ basis.

Only vehicle owners within the Pune RTO jurisdiction should apply for the preferred numbers. Applications from outside the jurisdiction, those with incorrect demand draft amounts, or without a proper mobile number will be rejected. The fees specified during the mentioned period and beyond will be in effect as per the Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Pune.
