Pune Rural Police Arrests Boyfriend in Darshana Pawar Murder Case

Pune: The Pune Rural Police have made a breakthrough in the sensational Darshana Pawar murder case with the arrest of her friend and also the prime suspect Sudhir aka Rahul Handore, who was reported missing after going on a trekking trip with her on June 12. As per information, Handore allegedly killed her as she rejected his marriage proposal. The police have taken him into custody from Andheri railway station and have confessed to the crime.
Speaking with the media during the press conference, Ankit Goyal, Pune Rural Police Commissioner said, “On June 18, 2023, a dead body of an unidentified woman was found in the area of Saticha Maal in Gunjawane village within Velhe police station limits. Next to the dead body, a mobile phone, black goggles, a black bag and a blue jerkin were found. On identification, the dead body was identified as Darshana Dattu Pawar, aged 26 years of Rajarshi Shahu Bank, Nanhe, Pune. On June 12, 2023, she informed her family that she was going to visit Sinhagad Fort. She did not return so her father Datta Dinkar Pawar filed a missing person’s report at Sinhagad Road Police Station. A case has been registered under Section 302 & 201 of the Indian Penal Code.”
As per information, seeing the seriousness of the crime, Ankit Goyal, Pune Rural Police Commissioner and Mitesh Ghatte, Superintendent of Police formed special teams to conduct a thorough investigation and arrest the accused. During the investigation, the investigating team received circumstantial evidence and eyewitnesses. The prima facie speculation is that Rahul Handore wanted to marry Darshana, but she refused. Hence, he killed her.
Police are further investigating the case.
