Pune: Safety Concerns Raised Over Missing Road Divider Near Lulla Nagar Flyover
Pune, February 24, 2026: A road safety concern has been raised regarding the stretch near Lulla Nagar Bridge, opposite the Red Cross Office, with residents alleging that the area has become accident-prone following the removal of a road divider earlier this year.
Social activist Nitin D’Souza has submitted a written complaint to the Senior Police Inspector of the Wanwadi Traffic Department, highlighting the risks posed to commuters due to the missing divider. According to the complaint, the divider had been installed by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) during the Pune Cycle Race held in January 2026 but was later removed.
Residents travelling from Wanwadi, NIBM and Kondhwa have reportedly expressed concerns over increased vulnerability to accidents at the location. Commuters claim that the absence of the divider has led to unsafe vehicle movements, putting motorists and pedestrians at risk.
Following a request by D’Souza, Assistant Police Inspector Ranjeet Mohite from the Wanawadi Traffic Department visited the site with his team on February 22 to conduct an inspection.
The complainant has urged the Pune Traffic Police to investigate the matter and take necessary corrective measures at the earliest to prevent potential mishaps and ensure commuter safety along the busy stretch.
