Pune: Sairang Garden Residents in Sus, Threaten Hunger Strike Over Illegal Parking of Heavy Vehicles, Alleging Years of Neglect
Pune: Residents of Sairang Garden Housing Society in the Sus area of Pune have alleged deliberate neglect over the past several years, claiming that interference by local political figures and their associates has created fear among residents and deprived them of basic civic facilities.
The society, located behind Joshi Wadewale in Susgaon, houses around 600 to 700 residents, comprising approximately 150 families. According to the residents, despite the NA Collector–approved amenity and open space, two JCB machines and twelve dumpers have been illegally parked on the society’s internal roads. The residents allege that this parking has been allowed with the support of certain political individuals.

The continuous movement and stationary parking of these heavy vehicles on internal roads have raised serious safety concerns, particularly for children, women, and senior citizens. Residents fear that the narrow residential roads are not designed for such heavy traffic and that any delay in action could result in a serious accident.
“Over the years, our society has been ignored despite repeated complaints. The presence of these heavy vehicles has made daily life unsafe for our families,” said Deepak Dhobale, a resident of Sairang Garden Society. “Our children and elderly residents are constantly at risk. If an unfortunate incident occurs, who will take responsibility?”
In response to the situation, residents of Sairang Garden Society submitted a written complaint on January 5, 2026, to Police Inspector Anil Vibhute at Bavdhan Police Station, demanding the immediate removal of the illegally parked vehicles and strict action against those responsible.
The residents have also escalated the matter by sending written representations via email to the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Office and the Inspector General of Police, seeking urgent intervention to prevent any untoward incident. Earlier, on December 29, 2025, a delegation of residents met Pune Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishor Ram and submitted a formal representation regarding the issue. Acknowledgment letters from the Pune Municipal Corporation and the police have been received.
The residents have warned that if the police administration fails to take immediate cognizance of the complaint, they will be forced to begin a hunger strike as a form of protest to safeguard the safety of their families.
The issue has triggered concern across the Sus area, with residents urging the authorities to act promptly and restore a sense of security within the residential society.
