PUNE: Sassoon Hospital primarily focuses on treating serious conditions. Patients seeking treatment for serious illnesses come to Sassoon Hospital from Pune and other parts of the state. However, there has been a noticeable increase in the number of patients seeking treatment for minor ailments. This has added to the strain on the hospital’s resources.

As per information, the hospital’s department sees an average of 3,000 patients daily. This high volume of patients is due to the lack of sufficient facilities for minor ailments in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and other district hospitals. As a result, the pressure on Sassoon Hospital is increasing day by day.  Hospitals doctors have to prioritize patients with minor ailments rather than solely focusing on those with serious illnesses. Most of the patients seeking treatment for minor ailments are from Pune city and the surrounding district. The inefficiency of municipal clinics and government hospitals in the district has further contributed to the rising number of patients at Sassoon Hospital. Therefore, the pressure on the hospital has significantly increased.
