Pune, November 2025: Major road development projects connecting Pune, Shirur, Shendra, Bidkin and Dhoregaon have received approval during a meeting of the Cabinet Infrastructure Committee held at Mantralaya. The committee has cleared the construction of a four-lane at-grade and six-lane elevated highway covering 53.4 km on the Pune–Shirur National Highway, along with six-lane road works from Shendra Industrial Area to Bidkin Industrial Area and from Bidkin to Dhoregaon on the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar–Pune highway.

Additionally, the government has granted in-principle approval for a new greenfield alignment connecting Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar–Jalna DMIC Node 1 (Karmad) to Bidkin, linking directly with the Samruddhi Mahamarg through a six-lane connector.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis directed authorities to urgently repair the existing road between Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Ahilyanagar to ease the difficulties faced by commuters.

Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, PWD Minister Shivendra Singh Raje Bhosale, and Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar were present for the discussion.

Fadnavis instructed that the six-lane elevated stretch and four-lane at-grade portion between Pune and Shirur must be completed within three years without delays. With several industrial hubs located along this corridor and traffic volumes increasing rapidly, he emphasised the need for immediate commencement of work.

The CM also directed Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited and MSRDC to jointly execute the 7.40-km viaduct structure planned for the Pune–Shirur stretch, which will accommodate a ground-level road, an elevated roadway and a metro line.

Land acquisition for the six-lane road projects—32.8 km from Shendra (Karmad) to Bidkin and 26 km from Bidkin to Dhoregaon—must begin on priority, he said.

The meeting included a detailed presentation by Manisha Mhaiskar, Principal Secretary of the Public Works Department. Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) O. P. Gupta, Principal Secretary (Law & Judiciary) Suvarna Kevle, MSRDC Managing Director Brijesh Dixit, and Maha Metro Managing Director Shravan Hardikar were also in attendance.
