Pune-Shirur Highway To Be Upgraded To Six-Lane Elevated Road With ₹7,515 Crore Investment
The decision has been made to improve the current Pune-Shirur-Ahmednagar-Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar National Highway. The 53-kilometer stretch from Pune to Shirur will be upgraded to a six-lane elevated road. This project will be undertaken by the Maharashtra State Industrial Development Corporation (MSIDC). An estimated budget of ₹7,515 crore has been allocated for this development.
This highway improvement is expected to significantly enhance the connectivity between Pune and surrounding regions, reducing travel time and easing traffic congestion. The six-lane expansion will accommodate the growing number of vehicles and improve road safety. Additionally, this upgrade is anticipated to support economic growth by facilitating smoother transportation for businesses and commuters alike.
The elevated road will also address challenges related to land acquisition, ensuring minimal disruption to local communities and businesses along the route.
