Pune Shocking Incident: Man Attacks 19-Year-Old Girl Student with Machete in Sadashiv Peth

A distressing incident unfolded in Pune’s Sadashiv Peth as a man was caught on camera chasing down a 19-year-old girl student with a machete or koyta. The shocking video footage captured the terrifying attack, which was subsequently thwarted by locals who apprehended the assailant and handed him over to the police. The identified attacker is Shantanu Laxman Jadhav, while the victim is a 19-yr-old girl.

According to the footage, the man initially stopped the woman’s scooter and then brazenly brandished the machete, launching a vicious assault on her. The video revealed the woman, dressed in a salwar suit and carrying a bag, desperately sprinting across the street while the man, wearing slippers and casual attire, relentlessly pursued her. He struck her on the back, causing her to fall face first, but she managed to get up. However, the attacker persisted, relentlessly pursuing her.

“The girl is a student at a college in Pune. She is 19. As per the preliminary information, after the attacker chased the girl holding a sharp weapon and attacked her, some youths present in the area intervened and caught hold of him and prevented him from further attacking her. They later handed him over to police personnel present at the police chowky,” said an officer from Vishrambag police station, as quoted by The Indian Express.

The brave locals, who witnessed the horrifying incident, swiftly intervened, throwing objects at the attacker to restrain him until the police arrived. Pune’s Deputy Commissioner of Police, Sandeep Singh Gill, confirmed that the assailant has been arrested and charged with attempted murder under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code.

The victim’s mother revealed that the attacker had previously made attempts to intimidate her daughter. “We had also lodged a complaint with the man’s father, yet he attempted to kill our daughter today,” added the distraught mother.
