Pune: Strict Action Against Drunk Driving – Two Offenders Fined ₹20,000 Each, Sentenced to Jail
Pimpri Chinchwad Traffic Police have taken firm action against drunk driving, with two individuals facing hefty fines and jail sentences. The Motor Vehicle Court in Shivajinagar, Pune, has sent a strong message by penalizing offenders with both monetary fines and imprisonment.
Verdict Details:
- Dattatray Atish Tipre (26, Sane Chowk, Chikhli, Pune) – Fined ₹20,000 and sentenced to 4 days of simple imprisonment.
- Rajkumar Garjuprasad Bharti (45, Ganesh Mandir, Nehrunagar, Pimpri, Pune) – Fined ₹20,000 and sentenced to 3 days of simple imprisonment.
The traffic police have reiterated that drunk driving poses a serious threat not only to the offenders but also to public safety. Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Police Bapu Bangar has urged all motorists to avoid driving under the influence, warning of strict legal consequences for violators.
The case was handled by Police Sub-Inspector Parante, along with Police Constables Bahirat, Borke, Narke, and Fode. The traffic police have vowed to continue their strict crackdown on such violations to ensure road safety.
