Pune, November 21, 2025: Residents of Yashwin Society Road in Sus conducted a 15-minute online protest on Thursday to highlight the Pune Municipal Corporation’s prolonged delay in repairing the severely damaged stretch between Vibgyor School and Neelanchal Society.

Although the monsoon ended more than two months ago, the road has not been resurfaced. The uneven surface and intense dust pollution have created daily difficulties for commuters, schoolchildren and senior citizens. Locals say dust exposure is causing allergies, respiratory discomfort and back pain, while constant heavy vehicle movement further deteriorates the stretch.

With repeated complaints receiving no response, residents organised a coordinated digital protest from 11:00 AM to 11:15 AM, sending hundreds of WhatsApp messages simultaneously to four PMC officials — from the Junior Engineer to the Chief Engineer. Their demand focused on urgent, uniform resurfacing of the entire road to ensure safe and smooth travel.

Residents clarified that the initiative was a peaceful appeal for basic civic services. They expressed disappointment that despite timely tax payments, essential infrastructure remains ignored.

“We are only asking for a safe road. Dust is affecting our children, uneven roads are affecting our health, and heavy vehicles make it worse. If genuine citizen concerns remain unresolved for months, people are forced to take such steps,” the group stated.

Residents said they would escalate the matter to the PMC Commissioner if corrective action is not initiated soon.

The online protest underscores a rising trend of citizens turning to digital platforms to demand accountability and highlight long-pending civic issues.
