Pune: Suspicion of Murder in Hinjawadi Dispelled as Decomposed Dog Found
In a surprising turn of events in Hinjawadi, Pune, what initially sparked fears of a potential murder has been clarified by local authorities. Many passing by Shinde Wasti believed it was an unsuccessful attempt to dispose of a murder victim. However, in an unexpected turn reminiscent of the movie Drishyam, the suspected human remains turned out to be the body of a dead dog.
Yesterday, around 6 PM, the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate received a call about the foul odor coming from the wrapped object in Shinde Wasti, Hinjawadi. The item, covered in bedsheets, raised suspicions of foul play. Taking the call seriously, the Hinjawadi Police and the Crime Branch Unit rushed to the scene. When they unwrapped the bedsheets, they found the decomposing body of a dog inside.
According to police reports, the dog had been deceased for several days. Initial investigations indicate that it was not a stray but rather a pet dog. There were no visible injuries, and police believe the dog likely died of natural causes. It appears the owner abandoned the body, unsure of how to handle the situation instead of burying it.
Senior Police Inspector Kanhaiya Thorat, who oversees the Hinjawadi Police Station, shared, “We received a call regarding a suspicious object emitting a foul odor. At first, we thought it might be a dead body, but it was actually a dog. It seems to be a pet dog, and the owner probably abandoned it there instead of burying it.”
