Pune: Swargate Bus Terminal Set For Overhaul As PMPML, MahaMetro Launch Joint Measures
In a joint effort to enhance commuter convenience and streamline operations at Pune’s bustling Swargate bus terminal, a detailed inspection was carried out by senior officials from PMPML, MahaMetro, and the city’s traffic police department.
The inspection, led by PMPML Chairperson and Managing Director Deepa Mudhol-Munde, aimed at identifying operational bottlenecks and improving passenger amenities. Key officials present included Swargate Traffic Division Inspector Shailaja Jankar, MahaMetro Advisor Dattatray Mane, Project Manager Govind Kadam, and PMPML Chief Transport Manager (Operations) Satish Gawhane.
To bolster safety, especially for women commuters, maintenance of existing CCTV cameras and installation of new ones at the upcoming terminal were prioritised. The team also assessed the entry and exit flow of buses to reduce congestion and delays.
Temporary shelters have been mandated to protect passengers from sun and rain until the terminal construction is complete. Encroachments near the metro station entrance will be cleared immediately to ease bus movement.
Barricades will also be installed within the terminal to manage bus traffic efficiently. Stressing the importance of coordination, Mudhol-Munde stated that PMPML and MahaMetro must operate in sync to deliver safe and high-quality public transport services.
