Pune Theft Caught on Camera: Woman Steals 4 Phones and Cash from Home in Karvenagar, CCTV Footage Surfaces
Pune, June 18, 2025 – In a shocking early morning theft, a woman was captured on CCTV brazenly entering a residence in Pune’s Karvenagar area and stealing four mobile phones along with cash. The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. on June 15 and has since raised serious concerns about growing residential crimes in the city.
According to the complaint filed by Murli Angre, a local businessman who owns a dairy and hotel below his home in Dudhane Heights, the theft happened when he was out for work. Guests staying at his house at the time had apparently left the main door open — a moment of vulnerability that the thief exploited.
The CCTV footage shows the woman walking in casually, scanning her surroundings, and swiftly slipping the stolen items into her clothes. An accomplice is also believed to be involved, though their exact role remains unclear.
The crime initially went unnoticed. Suspicion arose when Angre’s wife tried to call their domestic help and discovered that one of the phones was switched off. A quick check revealed that four phones and cash were missing. The incident was immediately reported to Warje Police Station, and a case has been registered against unknown individuals.
Authorities are now analyzing the CCTV footage, which clearly shows the suspect entering the building, targeting the apartment, and concealing the loot before walking out calmly. The footage is expected to play a key role in identifying and locating the culprits.
This incident comes amid rising concerns over early morning break-ins across Pune. Police are urging residents to remain alert, ensure doors are securely locked, and report any suspicious activity immediately. They also recommend installing functioning CCTV systems to aid in monitoring and deterrence.
The incident has also gone viral on social media, with footage of the theft circulating widely.
