Pune, May 11, 2026: Thousands of residents gathered on Pune’s JM Road on Sunday evening to take part in a silent protest march seeking justice in the shocking Nasrapur child rape and murder case. The march saw participation from women, students, senior citizens, social workers, and citizens from different parts of the city.

The rally began near Balgandharva Chowk and moved towards the Deccan area, with participants carrying black banners, candles, and placards demanding stringent punishment for the accused. Many protesters raised slogans calling for justice for the four-year-old victim and urged authorities to ensure the harshest legal action, including capital punishment.

The demonstration was organised in response to the recent incident reported from Nasrapur village in Bhor taluka of Pune district, where a minor girl was allegedly sexually assaulted and murdered. The case has sparked widespread anger and grief across Pune district, triggering protests and public demonstrations in several localities.

Visuals from the protest showed large crowds occupying the entire stretch of JM Road as citizens marched peacefully in silence to express solidarity with the victim’s family and protest against crimes targeting children. Heavy police deployment was arranged in the area to maintain law and order and regulate traffic movement during the march.

Citizens participating in the protest said the turnout reflected growing public concern over increasing incidents of violence against minors and emphasised the need for fast-track trials and stricter implementation of laws related to crimes against children.

Earlier, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had stated that the accused in the case should face the strictest possible punishment, adding that such crimes deserve severe legal action.
