Pune: As Ganeshotsav celebrations reach their peak, Pune Traffic Police have announced major traffic changes to manage heavy crowds and ensure smooth processions. From the last seven days of the festival, four major roads in the city will remain closed to vehicular movement after 5 PM daily. Additionally, heavy vehicles will be banned on 12 key routes until the end of the festivities.

Roads Closed After 5 PM

To facilitate devotees and pedestrians during processions, the following roads will be shut in the evenings:

  • Laxmi Road: Hamjekhan Chowk to Tilak Chowk
  • Shivaji Road: Gadgil Statue Chowk to Mandai Area
  • Bajirao Road: Puram Chowk to Appa Balwant Chowk
  • Tilak Road: Hirabaug Chowk to Nehru Stadium

Complete Ban on Heavy Vehicles

Buses, trucks, containers, and dumpers will not be allowed on the following roads:
Shastri Road, Tilak Road, Kumthekar Road, Laxmi Road, Kelkar Road, Bajirao Road, Shivaji Road, Karve Road, FC College Road, Jangli Maharaj Road, Sinhagad Road, Ganesh Road.

Police Appeal to Citizens

Traffic Police have urged residents to cooperate and use alternative routes. “These measures are necessary to ensure smooth movement of devotees and maintain safety during the festival,” officials stated.

PMPML Bus Diversions

  • Shivajinagar to Swargate: Buses will travel via S.G. Barve Chowk, Jangli Maharaj Road, and Tilak Road.
  • Manapa Bus Stand to Swargate: Buses will follow Jangli Maharaj Road, Alka Talkies Chowk, Tilak Road, and Shastri Road.
