Pune, August 31, 2025 – With Ganeshotsav celebrations entering their final week, Pune Traffic Police have announced a series of traffic restrictions to manage congestion and ensure smooth movement across the city. The measures will remain in effect from August 31 to September 5, 2025.

Road Closures after 5 PM

Four major roads will be shut for vehicular movement in the evenings during the festival:

  • Lakshmi Road: Hamjekhan Chowk to Tilak Chowk
  • Shivaji Road: Gadgil Putla Chowk to Mandai area
  • Bajirao Road: Puram Chowk to Appa Balwant Chowk
  • Tilak Road: Hirabagh Chowk to Nehru Stadium area

Ban on Heavy Vehicles

A complete ban has been imposed on heavy vehicles across 12 major roads, including Shastri Road, Tilak Road, Kumthekar Road, Laxmi Road, Kelkar Road, Bajirao Road, Shivaji Road, Karve Road, FC College Road, Junglee Maharaj Road, Sinhagad Road, and Ganesh Road.

Revised Public Transport

  • Pune Metro will run additional services with revised schedules to ease commuter load.
  • PMPML buses have been diverted on 66 routes to avoid congested areas.

No-Parking Zones

To maintain traffic flow, strict no-parking has been enforced at key spots such as Subhedar Talim, Panghanti Chowk, Ganj Peth Chowk, Central Street, Jedhe Prasad Road and more.
Complete no-parking is also applicable on:

  • Shivaji Road: Jijamata Chowk to Mandai Chowk
  • Lakshmi Road: Mumbai Chowk to Shanipar Chowk
  • Bajirao Road: Shanipar Chowk to Phulkaburuj
  • Appa Balwant Chowk to Budhwar Peth

Appeal from Authorities

The traffic department has urged citizens to plan travel in advance, use alternate routes, and avoid parking violations to ensure a safe and hassle-free Ganeshotsav.
