Pune Traffic Police Implements Route Changes To Ease Congestion At Golibar Maidan

In order to decongest traffic congestion & smoothen traffic flow at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) Chowk, the Pune Traffic Police have announced changes in traffic on experimental basis.

As per further information from Pune Traffic Police, Flyover and metro construction work is going on at SPPU Chowk on Ganeshkhind Road. Due to the narrowness of the road on both sides, there is constant traffic congestion on Ganeshkhind Road. To resolve traffic congestion issues & smoothen the traffic flow, it is necessary to make changes in traffic on Ganeshkhind Road.

For this, the traffic police are changing the traffic flow on Ganeshkhind road on 4/3/2024 from 12:00 PM on an experimental basis, excluding essential service vehicles. All previous traffic orders at the said place will be considered cancelled.

·         Right-hand entry from Senapati Bapat Road junction will be closed for vehicles going from SPPU Chowk to Senapati Bapat Road via Ganeshkhind Road.

  Alternate Route – Motorists should take a U-turn in front of Cosmos Bank and take a left turn at Senapati Bapat Road junction.

·         For vehicles coming from Shivajinagar on Ganeshkhind Road and going towards Range Hills, the right turn will be closed at Range Hills corner.

  Alternate Route – Motorists should take a U-turn in front of Cosmos Bank and take a left turn at Range Hills corner towards Range Hills.

·         Baner Road from Pune University to Baner is being converted into a buffer road up to Police Petrol Pump. From 7:00 am to 12:00 am, traffic on the said road will continue towards SPPU Chowk and from 12:00 am to 7:00 am, traffic will continue towards Baner.

  Alternate Route – Between 7:00 AM to 12:00 AM, motorists going to Baner from Pune Vidyapeeth Chowk should take Pashan Road to Baner via Abhimanashree Junction.

All types of heavy vehicles, trucks, trailers, containers etc will be prohibited to commute for 24 hours on the following routes:

a) Chafekar Chowk to Pune Vidyapeeth Chowk on Ganeshkhind Road

b) Bremen Chowk to Pune Vidyapeeth Chowk on Aundh Road

c) Abhimanashree Chowk to Pune Vidyapeeth Chowk on Baner Road

d) Abhimanashree Chowk to Pune Vidyapeeth Chowk on Pashan Road

For three-wheeler pickup vehicles transporting vegetables, as well as all other types of three-wheeler, four-wheeler cargo vehicles, slow moving vehicles such as dumpers, mixers, JCBs, road rollers and other vehicles, access of the above routes will be closed from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 16:00 pm to 22:00 pm.
