Pune | February 22, 2026: The Pune City Traffic Police on Saturday conducted a citywide special drive against Bullet motorcycles fitted with modified silencers, aiming to curb noise pollution and traffic violations.

As part of the special operation carried out across Pune, strict action was taken against vehicles using illegal modified silencers. According to official data: 

Action was taken against 348 Bullet motorcycles

All modified silencers were immediately removed and seized.

A total fine of ₹3,34,000 was collected and deposited with the government.

348 modified silencers and 148 vehicles were seized during the drive.

In addition, action was also taken against other traffic violations across the city. Fines amounting to ₹15,73,800 were collected in cases related to various breaches of traffic rules.

The Pune City Traffic Police appealed to citizens, stating that the use of modified silencers increases noise pollution and causes inconvenience to the public. Vehicle owners were urged to follow traffic rules and cooperate in maintaining a safe, peaceful, and disciplined traffic system in the city.

Drunk and Drive Special Drive – Court Proceedings

On the same day, the Pune City Traffic Branch also conducted a special “Drunk and Drive” enforcement and prosecution drive, with cases being effectively followed up in court proceedings at the Motor Vehicles Court, Shivajinagar.

Key details of the drive include:

53 accused persons were produced before the court.

44 offenders were convicted, and a total fine of ₹4,29,500 was imposed and immediately recovered.

The Pune City Traffic Branch reiterated that drunk driving is a serious and punishable offence, posing a grave risk to the lives of drivers and other citizens. The department appealed to the public to strictly follow traffic rules and cooperate in building a safer Pune.
