Pune, April 10, 2026: In response to persistent traffic congestion in the Mohammadwadi–Undri area, the Pune Traffic Police have initiated measures to address bottlenecks at key junctions, including Kad Nagar Chowk and the fish market near the Indian Oil petrol pump.

Pune Pulse has been frequently raising issues regarding traffic congestion at Kad Nagar, Fish market junction, Mohamadwadi junction which is causing severe discomfort to the local residents with main reason attributing to road encroachments. 

Senior officials, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav and under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil, conducted an on-site inspection on April 9, 2026, following concerns raised by local residents and journalists.

Authorities identified narrow road width, encroachments, and obstructions caused by high-tension electric poles and overhead cables as the primary causes of traffic snarls. Officials indicated that immediate, trial-based measures will be introduced to manage congestion while long-term solutions are planned.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) will be notified to coordinate efforts, including road widening, removal of encroachments, and relocation of obstructing poles and cables.

Members of the Mohammadwadi Undri Residents Welfare Development Foundation expressed optimism that coordinated action by all agencies could significantly improve traffic conditions in the area. They also emphasized the responsibility of civic authorities to ensure timely implementation of these measures.
