Pune: The Pimpri Chinchwad Traffic Police has announced major temporary traffic diversions in Hinjawadi and Wakad areas on Thursday due to the annual procession organised for Mhatoba Festival.
The traditional ‘Bagad’ procession, held in honour of Hinjawadi’s local deity Shri Mhatoba, is expected to draw large crowds. To prevent congestion and ensure smooth movement, restrictions will be in place from 12:00 PM until the conclusion of the procession.
Several key routes will remain closed during this period, including stretches between Tata T Chowk and Wakad Naka, Geometric Circle to Wakad Naka, Shivaji Chowk to Bhumkar Chowk, and Indian Oil Chowk to Wakad Naka. Service roads between the Jaguar showroom and Sayaji underpass will also be shut.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Vivek Patil has urged motorists to use alternative routes to avoid inconvenience. Suggested options include Laxmi Chowk, Bhumkar Chowk, and Jagtap Dairy Chowk, among others. Commuters are also advised to use the Mumbai–Bengaluru Highway (NH-48) where possible.
Authorities have appealed to IT professionals and local residents to plan their travel in advance and consider using public transport to minimize delays and traffic congestion.
