Pune : Traffic snarls on Mangaldas Road due to traffic diversion to facilitate Sadhu Vaswani bridge work

There are traffic jams on Mangaldas Road and in the vicinity of Wadia College as a result of the traffic diversions on the Sadhu Vaswani rail overbridge and Koregaon Park.

Regular commuters claimed that the area’s heavy traffic makes it take longer for them to get through. According to commuters, the worst of the traffic is on the sections of Bund Garden Road and Mangaldas Road.

Since last week, the traffic police and PMC have implemented traffic diversions to support the proposed bridge work.

PMC intends to build a new bridge and destroy the current one. Although the work itself has not started yet, there will be trial diversions that will be in place for the next few days. The bridge is open to cars going from Circuit House Chowk to Blue Diamond Chowk in a single direction. Vehicles must, however, take a detour via Mangaldas Road and Wadia College Chowk in order to get from Blue Diamond Chowk to Circuit House Chowk.

One frequent traveler stated that Mangaldas Road traffic needs to be kept moving. After the bridge is completely closed, traffic may slow down even more. In order to help decentralize traffic movement, the authorities must inform travelers about alternate routes.

According to traffic police officials, measures are being taken to lessen the effects of diversions and maintain traffic flow by removing bottlenecks. They are still in the first stages of their diversion. Strategic locations have received the deployment of additional personnel. There will soon be some adjustments made to traffic signal timings. According to officials, they are monitoring the effects of diversions.

According to the PMC, the actual bridge demolition will start as soon as the local traffic movement plan is finalized.
