In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Amol Balwadkar, the former Chairman of the City Improvement Committee and BJP corporator for Baner, Balewadi, and Pashan, raised significant concerns regarding the severe traffic congestion plaguing residents of Baner, Balewadi, Sus, and Mahalunge. Balwadkar has formally appealed to Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari for urgent intervention to address this pressing issue.

Former Corporator of Balewadi Amol Balwadkar’s X post stated:
“Baner-Balewadi-Sus-Mahalunge residents are daily facing very huge traffic congestion. This traffic issue can only be resolved by constructing one more underpass just before Mula River near Sadanand Regency, Baner on the Mumbai-Bangalore National Highway. Even the service road is filled with potholes so instead of repairing the current road, a new concrete road should be developed. I have been following up on this for many years but unfortunately, no progress has been made. You are our last hope in this matter, so on behalf of the residents I request your personal intervention to resolve this traffic issue.”

In his appeal, Balwadkar emphasized the critical need for an additional underpass and the development of a new concrete road to replace the deteriorating service road. He expressed his frustration over the lack of progress despite persistent efforts over the years.

Adding to the discussion, another X user, Balabhau Punekar, highlighted additional infrastructure issues. Punekar responded to Balwadkar’s post, noting:

“There is a planned DP road by PMRDA in this area but there is no progress on it. We would request your attention in this matter.”

Puneites comment underscores the urgency for action on the stalled DP road project, which is seen as essential for alleviating local traffic problems.

Multiple factors, including ongoing metro construction projects have exacerbated Pune’s traffic congestion. The situation is further complicated by the deteriorating condition of roads, filled with potholes, especially during the rainy season. As residents continue to face daily challenges, Balwadkar’s appeal reflects a broader call for timely infrastructure improvements to address these growing concerns.
