Pune: Two Arrested In Katraj For Smuggling Whale Vomit And Chinkara Antlers, Police Custody Till December 2
Pune: Acting on information about the illegal sale of whale vomit (ambergris) and Chinkara antlers in Bhilarwadi (Haveli Taluka) within the Pune forest range, the Forest Department conducted a raid at Nisarg Hotel and seized the smuggled wildlife organs. Two individuals, Hemrao Sikandar Mehta (resident of Balajinagar) and Hrithik Navnath Lekurwale (resident of Thergaon), were arrested and presented in court. The court ordered them to remain in police custody until December 2.
Assistant Conservator of Forests Mangesh Tathe led the operation, with forest officers and staff playing key roles in the successful action. The seized items included whale vomit valued at ₹75 lakh and Chinkara antlers worth ₹25,000.
