Pune — In a disturbing incident, two young women, referred to as Nirbhaya 1 and Nirbhaya 2, were allegedly abducted and assaulted by two men. The accused, identified as Ajay Bhikken Daud, 29, a resident of Satkarsthala, Khed, and Shriram Santosh Hole, 23, a resident of Holewadi, Khed, tricked the victims into going for a walk and then took them on their motorcycle to Shirur.

Upon reaching Shirur, the accused procured an injection and bottle from a third accomplice, known only as Kiran. The two women were then taken to a remote mountain area. There, the suspects attempted to inject Nirbhaya 1, but when she resisted, they threatened her. Nirbhaya 2 was injected on both arms against her will.

The suspects then took the victims to a lodge in Khed, where they rented two rooms. Ajay Daud allegedly forced Nirbhaya 1 into one room, while Shriram Hole forcibly took Nirbhaya 2 into another room, where both women were sexually assaulted.

The incident was reported to the Khed Police Station, resulting in the registration of Case No. 310/2024 under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, and sections 366A, 376(2)(J), 328, 506, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code on May 16, 2024, at 1:20 a.m.

Following the report, two investigation teams were formed. Using information from a confidential informant, both Ajay Daud and Shriram Hole were arrested within an hour. Efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the third accomplice, Kiran.

The arrested suspects were presented before the court, which granted police custody remand until May 18, 2024.

This swift action was taken under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh, Additional Superintendent of Police Ramesh Chopde, and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sudarshan Patil. The investigation team included Police Inspector Rajkumar Kendra, Woman Police Sub-Inspector Madhavi Deshmukh, Police Sub-Inspector D.N. Raut, and several other officers from Khed Police Station. The ongoing investigation is being led by Woman Police Sub-Inspector Madhavi Deshmukh.
