On Saturday, March 1 2024, 2 Sandalwood trees were stolen from Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU). The incident took place around 11:30 at night. 

The incident was reported by Guard Ashok Mitkari to Chaturshrungi Police Station.

According to Police Inspector Yuvraj Ashok Nandre, Chaturshrungi Police Station, “There were 3 people in total who intruded in the campus and started chopping the Sandalwood tree in the dark. 2 MSF Jawan’s who were patrolling the campus noticed an unusual activity, they went to catch the intruders immediately, but they escaped in the Jungle area behind the campus. They stole 2 small Sandalwood plants worth Rs. 20,000.”

Currently, the case is under investigation and the Police are trying to find information about the robbers through CCTV cameras nearby. There is no CCTV near the stolen area, therefore nearby CCTVs are being checked.
