Pune Weather Update: Citizens to welcome a cloudy start for 2024
Pune’s weather for the start of the new year is expected to be chilly and overcast according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The prediction states that Pune will see cloudy skies and a decrease in the minimum temperature between December 31 2023 and January 1 2024.
As per further information from the X handle of Dr Anupam Kashyapi, Head, Weather Forecasting Department, IMD Pune “There is light rain chance over Maharashtra during New Year Days. It is likely at isolated places of North Eastern Maharashtra. Weather Department, as predicted earlier, it will likely affect North Western India from 30 Dec, due its interaction with Easterly winds, light isolated rain will likely be over North Western & Central India during 30 Dec to 2 Jan, 2024.”
Though the rest of Maharashtra, including Pune, is currently experiencing typical weather with clear skies and a gradual rise in the minimum temperature, things are expected to change in the coming week. Pune’s minimum temperature increased from 11 degrees Celsius to about 14 degrees Celsius this past week.
Beginning on December 28, cold winds are expected to blow across northern India and the northeastern states, bringing cloudy weather to Pune and other parts of Maharashtra. Additionally, the IMD predicts that during this time, fog will increase in some areas. From December 29 to January 1, Pune’s daytime highs are predicted to drop.
A cold start to the new year can be caused by morning fog in some parts of Pune and its environs. Pashan, a Pune neighborhood, recorded a low of nine degrees Celsius the previous week. Pune residents are advised to prepare for colder weather conditions during the first few days of the upcoming year as they get ready to welcome 2024.
