A woman fell victim to a scam involving the purchase of a specific oil used in the cosmetics industry, losing ₹30 lakhs in the process.

The scam began when the woman was contacted by a person claiming to represent a German cosmetics company. The caller provided a contact number in India, purportedly belonging to a company that produced the necessary oil. She was informed that the company required five liters of this oil.

The woman contacted the provided number and was told that the oil cost ₹1.5 lakh per liter. Following the instructions of the “German buyer,” she ordered five liters and transferred ₹7.5 lakhs to a specified bank account. Shortly after, she received a container of the oil.

Later, she received a call from someone posing as an official from the German embassy, who advised her to order another 15 liters of oil to facilitate its shipment to Germany. Trusting the caller, she ordered 15 more liters from the same Indian supplier and paid ₹22.5 lakhs.

Eventually, all the contact numbers—the “German buyer,” the supposed German embassy official, and the Indian supplier—became unreachable. Realizing she had been scammed, the woman reported the incident to the police and filed a complaint.
