Pune | December 15, 2025:
A 53-year-old woman lost her life following a road accident on the Katraj–Kondhwa Road on Monday morning, with severe traffic congestion delaying medical assistance.

The incident occurred around 7.30 am near the Hanuman temple, ahead of ISKCON Chowk. The woman, identified as Rama Kapade (53), a resident of Katraj–Kondhwa Road and a teacher at JSPM College, sustained serious injuries in the accident.

According to information received, heavy traffic congestion at the spot prevented immediate help, and no assistance could reach her for nearly half an hour. She was later shifted to Bharti Hospital, where doctors declared her dead during treatment. Sources said she suffered excessive blood loss.

Traffic on Kondhwa Road had been diverted due to preparations for the unveiling of a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, scheduled to take place later in the day in the presence of the Chief Minister. The diversion near Taljai led to confusion among commuters, which is believed to have contributed to the accident.

Residents and commuters have raised serious concerns over traffic management and emergency response on the busy stretch, questioning the accountability of the civic administration in ensuring road safety and timely medical aid.

Further investigation into the incident is underway.
