Pune: Bringing a significant sigh of relief to the local populace, the long-awaited road construction project connecting Mamata Chowk to Wakad Bridge in Balewadi has finally kicked off, spurred by the backing of Chandrakant Patil, the esteemed Guardian Minister of Pune.

The wheels of progress were set in motion recently as the state government, on May 8, 2023, allocated a substantial fund of Rs 144 crore towards the completion of pending road projects within the ambit of the Baner-Balewadi smart city initiative. The groundwork for the aforementioned road was initiated a mere two days ago, with a comprehensive site inspection conducted alongside the concerned contractor and supervising officials. The meticulous process of relocating the trees obstructing the designated route has also been successfully accomplished, paving the way for an anticipated swift completion of the road construction.

The project’s journey to fruition hasn’t been without its share of obstacles, notably revolving around land acquisition challenges. The concerted efforts of Kishor Pate, representing S. No. 2/7/1 Amit Builders, and his son Rohan Pate, in collaboration with Pune Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar, bore fruit as they resolved the lingering land acquisition quandary on January 27, 2022. The resolution culminated in the submission of the land acquisition deed to the Pune Municipal Corporation by the concerned developer on June 9, 2023, effectively eliminating the longstanding impediment.

The impetus for this transformative endeavor dates back to early January when Amol Balwadkar personally engaged with Patil, earnestly beseeching for funding through a written appeal to facilitate the road’s construction. Subsequently, on May 17, 2023, a comprehensive inspection was undertaken, marking a pivotal step towards the immediate commencement of construction.

The successful completion of this pivotal road infrastructure promises to extend manifold benefits, not only to the residents of Baner-Balewadi but also to the denizens of Hinjewadi’s IT sector, students, and the enterprising business community in Pimpri Chinchwad city.
