NIA Arrests One More Individual in Pune ISIS Module Case

According to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), a total of six individuals have been apprehended in connection with an ISIS sleeper cell operating out of a residence in Kondhwa, Pune, Maharashtra.

The latest arrest, Shamil Saquib Nachan, hailing from Padgha in Thane, becomes the sixth person to be taken into custody in relation to the ISIS module case centered in Pune. The NIA spokesperson stated that Nachan was actively involved in the manufacturing, training, and testing of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities. He collaborated with the other accused individuals in this endeavor. The authorities are currently conducting a search for other individuals who have been identified as suspects in this case.

The NIA has revealed that all six of the arrested individuals were part of a sleeper cell associated with ISIS, utilizing a residence in Kondhwa as their operational base. These individuals are alleged to have not only assembled IEDs but also conducted workshops on bomb-making, culminating in a controlled explosion conducted as a test of their device. The agency asserts that their intentions included the execution of terrorist acts aimed at disrupting the peace and communal harmony of the nation.
