Pune, October 25, 2025: A 32-year-old man was killed following a violent clash between two families in the Ramtekdi area over a firecracker dispute. The incident occurred near Pivla Chowk, Ramtekdi, on the night of October 21.

According to Wanwadi Police, tensions arose when Lakhising Kalyani threw a lit firecracker near a shop during a Lakshmi Puja celebration at a local Chinese eatery. Yash Thosar, one of the shop owners, objected, warning that the act could cause a fire due to the presence of gas and oil in the shop.

Angered by this, members of the Kalyani family—identified as Khannasing, Lakhising, Jalloosing, Jassusing, Arjunsing, and Govindsing Kalyani—allegedly attacked the Thosar family with iron pipes and sharp weapons. Several people were injured in the assault.

One of the victims, Jitendra Parmeshwar Thosar, sustained severe facial injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Friday morning during treatment.

Following his death, relatives of the deceased, joined by local residents, staged a protest outside the Wanwadi Police Station demanding justice.

Police have registered cross-complaints from both sides and have now added charges of murder and offences under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against the accused. Two suspects have been arrested so far.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Dhanyakumar Godse is investigating the case.
