Pune : In a recent development, Congress MLA Sanjay Jagtap from the Purandar constituency in Pune district has approached the Bombay High Court seeking relief from the stay on developmental works in his constituency.

Jagtap has filed a writ petition in the High Court claiming that the ruling party had stopped all the developmental works in his constituency, which he says, has caused huge inconvenience to the people.

He has alleged that as he belongs to opposition party MLA, the ruling party leaders deliberately  had stopped the works without prior explanation. Jagtap claims that the move was politically motivated, and aimed at defaming him and his party.

The Bombay High Court has listed the matter for hearing on April 3. Meanwhile, Jagtap has urged the court to allow the development works to resume immediately, citing the inconvenience caused to the people of his constituency.

Jagtap said, “ Developmental works under various heads like water and resource department, road constructions, compensation to unseasonal rains were pending since long time. During his first speech CM Shinde told that, he will ask respective collector to do all pending works of all MLAs, but ground reality is much different. Hence we approached the court.’’

It is worth noting that Jagtap’s constituency, Purandar, is one of the fastest-growing areas in Pune district, with a large number of new residential and commercial projects coming up in recent years. The stay on development works has caused significant delays and losses to several ongoing projects in the area.

Along with Jagtap, NCP MLA Datta Bharne from Indapur constituency and MLA Atul Benke from Junnar constituency have also approached court on stay of various developmental works in their respective constituencies.
