Raj Thackeray Rallies For Marathi Language Rights, MNS Workers Gear Up For Aggressive Action In Pune
Pune, April 1, 2025: At the Gudi Padwa rally held recently, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) President Raj Thackeray addressed various issues, with a primary focus on the usage of the Marathi language. Thackeray emphasized that every state has its official language, which deserves respect, and stated that in Maharashtra, particularly in Mumbai, Marathi must be upheld. He ordered his party workers to inspect whether Marathi is being used in every bank, government, semi-government, and private institution across the state. If any institution is found lacking, Thackeray warned that MNS would resort to aggressive actions in its signature style.
Thackeray’s speech also covered other pressing issues like ensuring the cleanliness of rivers, preventing pollution, saving forests, and safeguarding historical monuments. MNS workers in Pune, responding to his directive, have vowed to monitor institutions for compliance with Marathi usage, aiming to push for greater respect for the language.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis responded, stating that while insisting on the use of Marathi is not wrong, it is crucial not to take the law into one’s own hands, a sentiment echoed by MNS leader Hemant Sambhus, who attributed the need for such actions to the government’s lack of initiative in promoting Marathi.
