Following the success of “Jailer,” Rajinikanth gears up for “Thalaivar 170” (tentative title) under the direction of TJ Gnanavel, with Lyca Productions backing the project on a grand scale.
Officially announced by the film’s team, the unveiling of both the movie’s title and a teaser is set for 5 pm on December 12. Lyca Productions expressed the festive spirit, stating in a tweet, “Let the celebrations begin for Thalaivar’s B’day. Witness the grand reveal of #Thalaivar170 title along with the B’day teaser video tomorrow at 5PM!”
Directed by TJ Gnanavel, “Thalaivar 170” features Rajinikanth as a retired Muslim police officer on a quest for justice by reopening a case. Filming has taken place in diverse locations such as Thiruvananthapuram, Tirunelveli, and Mumbai. The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Amitabh Bachchan, Rana Daggubati, Fahadh Faasil, Ritika Singh, Manju Warrier, Dushara Vijayan, and others in pivotal roles. Viral on social media last month, on-set pictures of Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth captured the attention of fans.
The film holds special significance as Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan are set to share the screen after a remarkable 33 years. Rajinikanth expressed his joy through a post on his ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) account, stating, “After 33 years, I am working again with my mentor, the phenomenon, Shri Amitabh Bachchan in the upcoming Lyca’s ‘Thalaivar 170’ directed by T.J Gnanavel. My heart is thumping with joy!”
