Rajpal Yadav Shares Insights on Chota Pandit’s Evolution in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3
Rajpal Yadav is preparing to reprise his beloved role of Chota Pandit for the third installment of Bhool Bhulaiyaa. The film is set to hit theaters on November 1.
Rajpal Yadav is gearing up to bring back his cherished character Chota Pandit for the third installment of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, also known as BB3, is an anticipated Indian Hindi-language comedy horror film directed by Anees Bazmee. This film marks the third chapter in the popular franchise, following Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007) and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022).
The cast includes Kartik Aaryan, Vidya Balan, Madhuri Dixit, and Triptii Dimri, with the story taking place in Kolkata, West Bengal.
Since the release of Bhool Bhulaiyaa in 2007, Chota Pandit has made a significant impression. He is the sole character who initially encounters Manjulika (Vidya Balan) in the film, an event that profoundly transformed his character.
“He isn’t just a character but a caricature, a comic archetype. In our Indian culture, Bharat Muni’s ‘Natya Shastra’ envisioned such characters, like sutradhaar (narrator) and vidushak (clown). Chota Pandit embodies that, a character who mocks no one but himself, providing comic relief in the story. You’ve seen him in different hues–red in the first film and white in the second to protect himself from fire. Now, he appears covered in sandalwood paste to cleanse himself of all negativity, bringing a fresh, humorous dimension,” says Rajpal Yadav while describing the character.
The actor appeared in the 2007 movie Bhool Bhulaiyaa, sharing the screen with Akshay Kumar, and also featured in the 2022 sequel, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, alongside Kartik Aaryan.
Yadav’s flawless comic timing has rendered this character truly memorable. Despite shifts in the cast and changing narratives, Chota Pandit continues to be a steadfast figure, maintaining his appeal and significance.
Yadav is also excited about sharing screen space with actor Madhuri, “I’ve wanted to work with her for so long, having admired her in many films. I’m grateful to the makers for this chance. She’s added grace and charm to the story, making it a wonderful experience to work with both Madhuri and Vidya.”
