Rajpal Yadav’s Wife Radha Thanks Film Fraternity for Support After Actor’s Surrender in Cheque Bounce Case
Rajpal Yadav, the much-loved comic actor who has entertained audiences for decades, is currently facing one of the most difficult chapters of his life. After surrendering to Tihar Jail in connection with multiple cheque-bounce cases, the actor has found an unexpected wave of solidarity from across the film industry — something his wife Radha Yadav has now publicly acknowledged with gratitude.
Speaking to PTI, Radha opened up about the overwhelming support the family has received since Rajpal’s surrender. Expressing heartfelt appreciation, she said, “Everybody has stood by him. The industry has been supportive, a big thank you to everyone who is coming out to help.”
When asked about who had reached out, she reiterated that support has come from all corners of the fraternity, adding that many well-known names have either offered financial assistance or extended moral encouragement during this testing time.
Legal Trouble and Court Order
Rajpal Yadav’s legal battle traces back to 2010, when he borrowed ₹5 crore from M/s Murali Projects Pvt Ltd to finance his directorial venture Ata Pata Laapata. Unfortunately, the film failed at the box office, leaving him unable to repay the loan. Over time, interest and penalties mounted, pushing the outstanding amount to nearly ₹9 crore.
In early February 2026, the Delhi High Court rejected his plea seeking additional time to settle the dues. The court observed that he was required to pay ₹1.35 crore in each of the seven cases filed against him and directed that the amount already deposited with the registrar general be released to the complainant. Following the court’s order, Rajpal surrendered on 5 February and began serving a six-month sentence at Tihar Jail.
Before turning himself in, the actor had candidly admitted that he was struggling financially and felt isolated, stating that he had “no friends” to help him and no choice but to comply with the court’s directive.
Industry Steps Forward
In contrast to his earlier remarks about feeling alone, the response from the entertainment industry has been significant. Actor Sonu Sood was among the first to publicly announce support. He revealed that he would sign Rajpal for an upcoming film and provide the signing amount in advance, describing the assistance as “a matter of dignity, not charity.”
Singer Guru Randhawa also offered work in a music video along with an advance payment. Meanwhile, singer Mika Singh pledged ₹11 lakh as a gesture of solidarity and urged others in the fraternity to extend help in whatever way possible.
Television actor Gurmeet Choudhary appealed to producers, directors and fellow artists to unite in support of Rajpal, saying it “breaks my heart to see a senior going through such a painful phase.” Music composer Rao Inderjit Yadav has also stepped forward with assistance.
According to reports, major Bollywood names including Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Varun Dhawan and filmmaker David Dhawan have reached out privately. Rajpal’s long-time manager of 25 years, Goldie Jain, confirmed that several prominent figures have made commitments to help. He clarified, “People have taken the initiative to help. They all have promised to help, it doesn’t mean financially only. It’s true that (Salman, Ajay, Varun and David Dhawan) these people have called. In what capacity and how they will help, that is yet to be known. They are all well-wishers of Rajpal bhai.”
Beyond individual efforts, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has issued a public appeal urging members of the film and television community to provide both moral and financial backing to the actor during his incarceration and after his release.
A Career Built on Laughter
Rajpal Yadav has been a familiar face in Hindi cinema, known for memorable performances in films such as Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Waqt, Phir Hera Pheri, Partner, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Hungama and Chup Chup Ke. His comic timing and distinctive screen presence have earned him a loyal fan base over the years.
A bail hearing is scheduled for 12 February, offering a ray of hope to his family and supporters who are eager for his return home. As legal proceedings continue, the show of unity from colleagues across the industry stands out in an environment often described as fiercely competitive.
