Due to the ‘Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony taking place in Ayodhya on January 22, 2024, two prominent private sector lenders, HDFC Bank and Axis Bank, will be closed all day.

A senior HDFC Bank official said that on January 22, 2024, the bank will be closed for the entire day in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

An Axis Bank official said that on January 22, Axis Bank will be closed for the entire day in Uttar Pradesh.

Prior to this, the Finance Ministry had announced in an order dated January 18 that public sector banks, insurance providers, financial institutions, and regional rural banks (RRBs) nationwide would be closed for a half-day on January 22 in honor of the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

India will celebrate the Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha at Ayodhya on January 22, 2024. All central government offices, central institutions, and central industrial establishments across India will be closed for half a day, until 1430 hours on January 22, 2024, to allow employees to take part in the festivities, according to the DOPT order.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced on January 19 that due to the government offices’ half-day closure, the option to exchange and deposit Rs. 2000 banknotes will not be available on Monday, January 22, 2024.

But according to a statement from the RBI, operations at the facility will resume on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at any of the 19 Issue Offices of the Reserve Bank of India due to the government of India’s announced half-day closure.
