Rare photo exhibition to be displayed at 68th Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav
Pune, December 5: Shrinivas Joshi, Executive President of Arya Sangeet Prasarak Mandal, announced details about the programs which will be held under ‘Shadja’, ‘Antarang’ and ‘Shatabdi Smaran’ – during the 68th Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav.
The 68th Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav will be held from December 14-18 at the Sports Complex of Maharashtriya Mandal in Mukund Nagar, opposite Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth.
Arya Sangeet Prasarak Mandal trustees Shilpa Joshi, Shubhada Mulgund, Dr Prabhakar Deshpande, Milind Deshpande and photographer Sateesh Paknikar were present on the occasion.
Sharing details about the photo-exhibition ‘Shatabdi Smaran’, photographer Sateesh Paknikar said, “Like previous years, we are organizing a photo exhibition during the 68th Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav this year too, which will celebrate the birth centenary of Pandit Bhimsen Joshi. The exhibition will showcase pictures of Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi. It will give immense joy and happiness to the visitors to relive every moment captured in these photos and they will experience it once again through this exhibition.”
The photos, clicked by late senior photographer Anil Deshpande, Sudharkar Joshi and Sateesh Paknikar, will help revisit all the glorious days of the Mahotsav. The close bond and simplicity shared by Pandit Bhimsen Joshi and different artists from all over India who came to perform at the Mahotsav, are also captured through the photos.
Some rare photos captured by Sateesh Paknikar will also be exhibited in a special segment titled ‘Bhimseni Mudra’. Paknikar has exhibited photos on different themes for the last 13 years in the Mahotsav and this is the 14th edition of the photo exhibition.
The PMPML will also offer special bus services for the convenience of music lovers and the buses will run in the night on the following routes:
Mukund Nagar to Nigdi (Bhakti-Shakti chowk)
Mukund Nagar to Dhayari Maruti Mandir
Mukund Nagar to Kothrud Depot
Mukund Nagar to Warje Malwadi.
In addition to this, Ola and Uber apps will show the destination of ‘Sawai 2022’ during the festival period, so that it will be easy for people to get to the venue. Also, the auto rickshaw unions from the city have decided to extend their co-operation to the 68th Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav, just like previous editions.
