Rashtriya Balika Din celebrated by Pune Postal Region

The country is celebrating “Rashtriya Balika Din” (National Girl Child Day) on 24 January, 2022. On this occasion,  all Postal Divisions in Rune Region have made special endeavors to bring the benefits of “Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana”  Scheme to maximum possible Girl Childs in their jurisdictions. This Sukanya Samrudhhi Yojana scheme was launched by Govt. of India on this day in 2015 (24th January, 2015) for the welfare and empowerment of Girl Child.  India is also celebrating “Azadi Ka Amritmahotsav” during this year. As a part of this Azadi Ka Amritmahotsav initiative during the year 2021-22,  Pune Postal Region has so far covered 93,393 eligible Girl Childs under Sukanya Samruddhi Yojana scheme and opened SSA accounts in Post Offices across the Region. 

Especially in Pune City Area, 16,249 such Sukanya Samruddhi Accounts have been opened to benefit the future of Girl Childs in Pune City.  To take forward this initiative of Pune Postal Region, the Postmen staff who touches each and every doorstep of the society have taken a lead role and participated enthusiastically.  Many Postmen staff have identified the eligible Girl childs (below 10 years  of age) in their delivery jurisdiction, explained the benefits of this Sukanya Samruddhi Yojana scheme to the parents of Girl Childs and helped them to open SSA accounts at the doorsteps seamlessly.   Nowadays, with the backing of India Post Payment Bank(IPPB) Platform brought by the India Post, the deposits into the Post Office Savings schemes of the types of Sukanya Samruddhi(SSA), Public Provident Fund(PPF), Recurring Deposit(RD) etc., is made easy as one can deposit money into their Post Office Savings Accounts sitting at home using IPPB App. 

Also in this initiative of Pune Postal Region, some NGOs and local leaders and political entities have come forward to help poor girl child and contributed to the initial deposit amounts required to open Sukanya Samruddhi Yojana Accounts in Post Offices. 

Today, on the occasion of “National Girl Child Day” on 24 January, 2022,  Postmaster-General of Pune Region  G.Madhumita Das has handed over the SSA Pass books to the Girl Childs in Bhimpura Camp area of Pune City.  Goparaju Satish, Sr.Supdt.of Post Offices, Pune City East Division and N S Bankar, Sr.Postmaster, Pune Head Post Office are present during the Passbooks distribution to the Girl Children.   Postmaster-General G Madhumita Das has appreciated and felicitated Smt. Pournima Pawar, Postwoman of Pune Head Post Office also on the occasion for taking interest and opening 607 Sukanya Samruddhi Accounts so far for benefitting the Girl Childs under Pune HPO.
