Rat Meat Found in Chicken Dish, Case filed Against Reputed Restaurant in Bandra

Pune: A case was registered on August 14 at the Bandra police station after dead rat meat was discovered in chicken and mutton dishes at a popular restaurant in Bandra.

As per the First Information Report (FIR), on August 13, Anurag Singh (aged 40) went to a dhaba at Pali Naka in Bandra West with his friend Amit. They ordered chicken and mutton thali with roti. While eating they came across a piece of meat in it which looked different. Upon closer inspection, they realized it was a piece of rat meat.

When Singh asked the restaurant manager about it, he gave an evasive response. Following this, Anurag Singh lodged a complaint at the Bandra police station.

The police have registered a case against the manager of the dhaba, Vivian Albert Shiquera (aged 40 years) and the chef of the said hotel as well as the supplier of chicken under sections 272 (adulteration of food or drink for the purpose of sale), 336 (act endangering life) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Further investigation is on.
