Remarkable Achievement: Indian Railways Serves 3 Crore Travelers on November 4!
Indian Railways has achieved a remarkable milestone! On November 4, 2024, the national transporter served over 30 million passengers, surpassing the combined population of Australia and New Zealand.
To accommodate travelers returning to their hometowns for the festive season, the railways have implemented special arrangements.
On November 4, a total of 19.43 lakh passengers utilized reserved seats on the railways, while an impressive 101.29 lakh passengers opted for unreserved non-suburban services. Additionally, suburban railways saw a significant ridership of 1 crore 80 lakh individuals on that day.
During the period from October 1 to November 5, over 7.50 crore travelers from across the nation journeyed to their hometowns in Bihar, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand to partake in festival celebrations.
Indian Railways has launched more than 7,700 special trains to accommodate the increased passenger demand during the current festive season, starting in October.
In comparison, last year saw 4,429 special train trips. This year, the railway has scheduled 73 percent more special trains than in the previous year, aiming to assist over one crore passengers during the festivities. From October 1 to November 5, 2024, over 6.5 million passengers have successfully traveled to their destinations using these special services.
As the holiday season comes to a close, Indian Railways is preparing for the influx of travelers returning from Chhath Puja on November 8, 2024.
To accommodate the expected rise in passenger numbers, 164 special trains will be operational on that day, with more trains planned for November 9, 10, and 11. This initiative is designed to alleviate crowding and facilitate a seamless journey for the millions of passengers making their way home.
