Pune, Bavdhan – April 27, 2025 – Residents of Bavdhan took to the streets today in a silent protest organized by the Bavdhan Citizens Forum. The protest aimed to raise awareness about the deteriorating civic infrastructure and persistent traffic issues affecting their locality.

The protestors marched peacefully from Bavdhan Market Yard to Axis Bank on NDA Road, drawing attention to the ongoing problems plaguing the area, including poor road conditions, encroached footpaths, and daily traffic congestion. The protest comes as a result of increasing frustration among residents, who have repeatedly raised their concerns with local authorities, only to see little to no action taken.

“I have consistently followed up with the state government, PMRDA, and municipal administration regarding these issues,” said Supriya Sule, who also participated in the protest. “However, due to the administration’s continued negligence, I also joined the movement. It is extremely unfortunate that citizens must resort to protests to demand basic amenities.”

Residents expressed frustration over the poor condition of roads, particularly in areas like Bavdhan Budruk, where a steep slope from the Nissan showroom to Ryan Public School exacerbates traffic issues and makes the roads unsafe. They also highlighted the encroachment of footpaths, which further adds to the inconvenience and danger for pedestrians.

The Bavdhan Citizens Forum, which has been voicing these concerns for months, is urging the state and municipal authorities to take immediate and effective measures to resolve the infrastructure challenges in Bavdhan. “We are asking for safe, walkable, and livable streets for all. It is essential that authorities listen to the citizens’ concerns and act promptly,” said a forum member.

This silent protest is not the first instance of residents coming together to demand better infrastructure. However, it is a clear indication of the growing frustration and urgency in the community, who feel that their voices are not being heard.

“Enough talk and pleas, it’s time for action. We will continue to fight until we secure our basic rights. What are we asking for? Proper roads, footpaths, and essential amenities like water and electricity. Is this too much to ask for?” said Dushyant Bhatia, Member of Bavdhan Citizen Forum.

In conclusion, the Bavdhan Citizens Forum has called on the government and administration to take swift action, acknowledging the concerns raised by the local community and ensuring that the necessary improvements are made to the area’s roads and footpaths. The forum has also requested that local authorities address the encroachments and traffic management issues, which continue to disrupt daily life.
