Pune: The water supply department reported that water supply was restored to many areas by late evening on Wednesday after a one day shut down to carry out repair works.

According to the information provided, repair works took longer than expected due to technical issues. However, pumping and resumption of water supply to distribution lines began immediately after the completion of the works. Residents faced disruptions for the second consecutive day as well.

The supply was gradually restored to different areas and it is expected that all areas will receive water at sufficient pressure by Thursday. The repairs were initiated at the Warje pumping station and various other locations, including Chandni Chowk, SNDT, Pashan, and Kondhwe-Dhawade.

According to officials, the repairs were delayed due to Diwali to prevent any inconvenience to the public during the festive period. Officials from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) have announced the construction of new overhead tanks in Warje, Chandni Chowk, and Baner-Balewadi. These tanks are expected to enhance the water supply in these areas. Additionally, the PMC is currently in the process of installing pumps at the Chandni Chowk overhead tank to enhance the pumping system and improve water distribution.
