10-Year-Old From Pune Travels Alone to Aunt’s House in Thane Using OLA, Arranged by Rickshaw Driver; Reunited with Family

Pune: In a concerning incident, a 10-year-old girl from Pune, reported missing since Wednesday evening, was successfully located in Thane, according to officials from the Pune city Police.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Smartana Patil (Zone 2) the
young girl, a student of Sardar Dastur Girls High School, went missing after school hours, leading to the registration of a kidnapping case at Bund Garden Police Station against an unknown person.

The Pune police, after thorough investigation, discovered that the girl had interacted with a rickshaw driver captured on CCTV footage in the nearby locality..

During investigation, it was revealed that the girl had convinced the Rickshaw driver to take her to Thane, where her aunt’s house was situated. Adding a surprising twist to her escape plan, she requested the rickshaw driver to arrange an OLA cab from Pune to Thane, a request the driver willingly fulfilled.

The Pune police, acting swiftly, traced the Rickshaw and established contact with the driver. Collaborating with OLA, they obtained details of the cab driver. Through a video call, the police instructed the OLA cab driver to ensure the safe drop-off of the girl at the nearest police station in Thane. The Pune police then mobilized to Thane, successfully locating and securing the girl.

Upon confirmation of the incident, the girl’s father expressed relief, stating that she had been found. After the completion of necessary police procedures, the young girl was safely handed over to her family. The authorities are now investigating the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and the events that led to her ingenious plan to reach Thane.
