On 22nd December (Friday), a retired police officer was brutally attacked with a big stone at Samvidhan Chowk in Wanowrie.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Ajay Shitole, Sub Inspector, Wanowrie Police Station, said “The injured Vazeer Shaikh is a retired police officer. He was attacked brutally with a huge stone on the face. There was a property related dispute as Kakade Maidan, nearby Samvidhan Chowk, was going for development. An agreement was made with the consent of the farmers who owned the land. However, a person alleged that his name wasn’t there in the agreement. Hence, he had demanded money. On the night of 22nd December, there was an altercation between the person & Vazeer Shaikh regarding this in which the person attacked Vazeer Shaikh with a stone, injuring his face.”

Ajay Shitole further added that Vazeer Shaikh has been admitted to a private Hospital where further treatment is going on.

The Wanowrie Police have registered a case against the accused person under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Further investigation is going on.
